Message from Junko:
The intention of shiatsu is to bring out the natural self-healing ability that we all possess. A treatment generally includes stretches, gentle manipulation of the joints, and soft but deep pressure on the meridians (energy channels that run along the body), mostly using the palms and thumbs, to release energy blockages and re-establish the optimal flow of “Ki/Qi/Chi” (vital energy). Junko’s approach to Shiatsu is to always work on the whole body, head to toe. When there are acute conditions presented, treatment may be more focused on particular areas.
