Acupuncture is a holistic health system that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It addresses the root cause of a problem, treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms.

The balance of energy moving through our body’s channels is disturbed by life’s stresses, from infections and diet to the weather or grief, and Acupuncture uses techniques to restore this balance. Most commonly fine needles are used to stimulate the energy points along with other methods such as those listed below.

Many conditions can be treated successfully with Acupuncture.

Related therapies used by your Acupuncturist may include:

Chinese Herbal Medicine, Chi Kung, Cosmetic Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion and Tui Nai.

The Atlas

Did you know that the first cervical vertebra -the atlas- is misaligned in most humans? We define the atlas as misaligned when the convex bony formations (occipital condyles) on the sides of the hole in the base of the skull (foramen magnum)do not properly fit into the convex receptacles on the top of the atlas (superior articular facets). Furthermore, one side of the atlas (transverse process) is inappropriately locked in front of another bony formation of the skull (styloid process of the temporal bone).
This condition leads to a variety of physical and psychological ailments and illnesses. Fortunately, it is now possible to relocate the atlas to its correct position using using the AtlasPROfilax ® method. This technique was discovered and developed in Switzerland between 1993 and 1996 by René-Claudius Schümperli (who was himself painfully affected by a misaligned atlas).

The Cause

A misaligned atlas causes a reduction in the diameter of the aperture at the base of the skull and vertebral canal. This disrupts the normal flow of information between the brain and body through the vertebral and carotid arteries, the lymphatic system, the cerebral spinal fluid, the meningeal system and the spinal cord.

The Symptoms

The atlas carries not only the skull, but also facilitates, suspension, balance and control of the human spine and skeletal system.
A misaligned atlas can cause significant adverse changes to the posture. The results are symptoms such as recurring headaches, migraines, neck pain, stiff neck, back pain, lumbago, herniated disc(s), scoliosis, jammed spinal nerves, scoliotic pelvis, hip joint pain, apparent difference in leg length among others.

The Method

R.C. Schümperli developed a method which is unique worldwide, to correct a misaligned atlas with only one application, accurately, safely and permanently.
The AtlasPROfilax ® application consists of a safe, strategic, non-chiropractic massage to the short muscles of the neck, to loosen the tension and allow the atlas to return to its natural position. A subsequent appointment to recheck the atlas and offering additional support for the self-healing process is essential.

The original Bach Flower Remedies is a safe and natural method of healing discovered by Dr. Bach from 1920 – 1930’s in England. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions such as fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole. The Bach Flower Remedies allow peace and happiness to return to the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.
The Bach Flower Remedies are made from wild flowers and are safe for the whole family including pets.

Chinese herbal medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world with a history going back to the 3rd century BC. In China you will find western medicine and herbal medicine offered side-by-side in hospitals as it has continued to have a great influence on medicine throughout the centuries.

Chinese Herbs are prescribed for a wide range of conditions, and have been found to be particularly effective for gynaecological and gastrointestinal disorders. But they should also be considered for a whole host of specific and non-specific conditions.

Counseling allows the client to explore difficulties and changes both professionally and personally in a structured supportive environment. It can often be a short-term treatment.

We all experience times in life when we need someone objective to talk to. Someone who is wise, non-judgmental and capable of bringing out the best in us. Counseling can provide the environment needed to make this happen.

Psychotherapy can provide us with an opportunity to look at our lives, at what works and doesn’t work for us, and consider changes we might like to make.

It can help us to deal with crises and handle challenges, and encourages us to know ourselves better so that we can live in a more authentic, satisfying and resourceful way.

Psychotherapy can be short or long-term.

Craniosacral therapy is an extremely gentle hands-on whole body therapy. Therapists are trained to feel the subtle motion of the fluids that bathe the brain and spinal chord. This motion is called craniosacral motion. The therapist listens, via the hands to the body to facilitate its vital force. This brings about intrinsic change and reorganisation. In this way the therapist identifies and treats pain or tensions held in the body.

For treatment the client will usually lie fully clothed on a treatment couch. You may feel a deep sense of relaxation, and possibly become aware of heat, tingling, pulsations or other sensations.

Healing is a relaxing treatment whereby the bodies natural energy is enhanced to bring mind, body and spirit into balance and wellness.

Natural Spiritual Healing

The healing treatment is an energy treatment. Healing energy is the positive vital force that runs through all of life. However when we lose our connection to this vital source, our Being can develop symptoms of dis-ease. Healing reaches to the root of the problem in a respectful, non-invasive way.

Regular healing will facilitate balance and harmony, helping you to live a positive and healthy life. It can open your heart and help you to deepen and progress spiritually, empowering you to realize your full potential.

Theta Healing

There is evidence emerging all the time that the state of minds affects our health and well-being on all levels and Theta Healing provides an instant way to identify and release any blocks that are holding us back in life and potentially causing illness. It is a powerful and increasingly popular energy healing technique that uses the theta brainwave to connect with the Universal or Source Energy and from this place it is possible to witness change and access information to remove the negative aspects and replace with the positive. Any issues, whether physical, emotional, psychological or spiritual can be brought to a session and the shifts can be surprisingly quick with the client always receiving what they need to improve their well-being.

Reconnective Healing®

Reconnective Healing is a new level of hands-off healing that returns you to an optimal state of balance and health. Returning to this state of balance can be a transformational experience, and can manifest itself as a healing on many levels – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and more.

During a session your Practitioner facilitates an interaction between your own energy field and the Reconnection Healing Frequencies™. You effectively enter into a communication with a higher level of consciousness that reconnects you with the natural essence and wholeness of who you are. When you are connected to this vibrational space, any imbalances in your body and energy field fall away, and healing occurs. It’s that simple! Yet the healings are often profound, can be instantaneous and tend to be life long.

There has been over a decade of research into Reconnective Healing, currently led by an international team of world-renowned scientists including William Tiller PhD, Gary Schwartz PhD, and Konstantin Korotkov PhD. There is evidence that these naturally occurring external fields, or Reconnective Healing Frequencies, not only alter our energy fields but can in fact change our physiological function at the cellular level. When we invite the Reconnective Healing Frequencies in, we literally begin to vibrate at a frequency that changes the structure of our muscles, organs and our very DNA.

Reconnective Healing was discovered and developed by Dr. Eric Pearl in the early 1990’s when he was working as a chiropractor in Los Angeles. His patients began reporting miraculous healings from cancers, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and other severe health conditions, simply when Dr. Pearl held his hands near them. Today Dr. Pearl is considered a pioneer in the field of energy medicine and quantum healthcare and is endorsed by such notables as Deepak Chopra MD, Louise L. Hay and Wayne W. Dyer PhD.

Reconnective Healing, above all else, is a way of remembering the healing power that exists in all of us, a power that is as available and easy as taking a breath.”

~Minnie Driver, Actor & Singer-songwriter

What can Reconnective Healing do for me?

Reconnective Healing brings you back to your optimal state of balance. The form your healing takes will depend on what your optimal state of balance looks like at the time of your session and what is ready to be healed.

Your healing will likely take place on many levels. Every health challenge is a combination of the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and probably a few other classifications we don’t have words for. We simply classify it according to its predominant characteristic.

While Practitioners do not diagnose or treat specific conditions, and cannot guarantee specific outcomes, Reconnective Healing has been reported to help with the recovery from many serious conditions including cancers, AIDS-related diseases, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, eczema, birth disfigurements and other serious afflictions. Reconnective Healing has also been reported to help alleviate physical pain and promote healing during post-surgery recovery.

Reconnective Healing has been reported to help with alleviating depression and anxiety, releasing limiting beliefs and long-held fears, gaining clarity and insight over difficult issues and situations, achieving greater confidence and the ability to move forward in life, improving relationships and achieving a greater connection with yourself and others.

Reconnective Healing connects you with your core essence, bringing you back into alignment. It helps you to enter into the vibrational space where you remember the essence of who you are, and can be a catalyst for your spiritual and healing journey.

What does Reconnective Healing session look like?

During your session you will lie face up on a massage table. (If this is not possible for you, another suitable arrangement will be made). You will be asked to close your eyes and simply observe and ‘let go’.

The practitioner holds their hands a few inches or more above and around your body. This initiates the interaction between your energy field and the Reconnective Healing Frequencies, which you may continue to feel hours or even days after your session. The practitioner does not guide the healing or attempt to make a diagnosis in any way, but instead allows the perfect intelligence of the frequencies to deliver the most appropriate healing.

During your session you may experience a variety of physical sensations and many report experiences or sensations that transcend the realm of the basic five senses.

The best way to allow for a healing to proceed is in a state of expectancy, but without specific expectations or attachment to results. ‘Getting out of the way’ allows the healing frequencies to deliver a healing which usually exceeds any expectation that you may have had.

If you’re lucky, your healing will come in the form you anticipate. If you’re really lucky, your healing will come in a form you’ve not even dreamed of—one which the Universe specifically has in mind for you.”

~ Dr. Eric Pearl, The Reconnection® Founder

By allowing yourself to come back into balance in the presence of the Reconnective Healing Frequencies, you invite the potential of transforming your body, heart, mind and soul in profound and lasting ways.

Modern herbal medicine combines ancient traditional knowledge with the latest scientific findings. Qualified practitioners do a three-year medical training and must follow strict codes of ethics and safety. Herbalists use the same diagnostic skills as doctors but take a more holistic approach. This means they are more concerned in identifying and treating the underlying causes of any disease rather than to treat the symptoms alone.
Herbal prescriptions are designed specifically for each individual patient. A treatment may be a liquid (tincture) based on extracts of one or more plants, a plant juice, a cream made from oils and plant extracts, or a mixture of dried herbs to drink as a tea.

Herbal medicine is suitable for all ages, from babies through to the elderly.

Homeopathy is a natural medical system that works under similar principles of vaccinations, by treating ‘like with like’. Many mental and emotional problems as well as physical ailments and diseases can be treated with Homeopathy.

Homeopathic medicine has been in use for over 200 years and is safe, non-toxic and non-addictive and can be used instead of or alongside conventional medicine for both acute and long term conditions, as well as first aid and travel situations.

The Homeopaths working at the Centre believe that there is more to health than just being okay. It is their goal to help patients experience the vigor and vitality that is rightfully theirs. Once better, regular check ups help maintain good health and prevent illness.

Myofascial release (MFR) is a form of bodywork that focuses on releasing restrictions in the body’s soft tissue. It forms a three dimensional network that extends in a continuous web throughout the body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes and working on one area can have far reaching effects. MFR can release scar tissue, restrictions and adhesions throughout the fascial network. Scar tissue formed after an injury, surgical procedure, postural misalignment and emotional stress can act as a point of tension that pulls throughout the body.

For example, abdominal surgery can  create scar tissue that sets up lines of tension that can contribute to low back pain and impact through the body to reduce the range of movement in the shoulder or a twisted ankle from many years ago might still be pulling on the network to contribute to a neck ache. A MFR session uses gentle sustained holding to engage the fascia and encourage it to relax, break down adhesions and promote a return to a buoyant, relaxed and energised state. MFR techniques are gentle and safe and are highly effective i reducing pain and restoring motion, structural balance and optimal function. MFR techniques are usually performed skin on skin and without any form of lotion so that the therapist’s hands connect to the deeper layers of fascia.

Naturopathy uses the healing power of nature to restore our bodies to good health. The body can heal cuts, mend bones and rid itself of infection and Naturopaths can assist in this natural healing ability right throughout the body. Naturopathy does not impose solutions upon the body, but instead gives the body a chance to normalise itself through the elimination of toxins and activities that cause harm to the mind and body.

Naturopaths are interested in the inner terrain of the body, for example, what is going on in the digestive tract and the level of toxicity in the tissue and organs. An initial in-depth consultation provides a good picture of the problem. Treatments include gentle detoxification remedies, lifestyle and nutritional advice and supplements.

Other therapies used by your Naturopaths may include Iridology , Live Blood Analysis , Iris Diagnosis, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine and Osteopathy.

Nutritional Therapy is about helping you achieve optimum health – that’s not simply the absence of disease, but having an abundance of energy, clarity and emotional balance. By building a health reserve via nutritional support, you can also generate resilience to infectious and degenerative diseases, helping you to feel great now and for the rest of your life.

A one-to-one consultation allows for individual analysis of symptoms, genetic predisposition, lifestyle and dietary habits and personal health goals. From this the nutritional therapist can tailor a programme that may include gradual dietary and lifestyle changes, recommended supplements and biochemical tests.

Nutritional therapy is a holistic practice that advocates integrating nutrition and lifestyle to mobilise the body’s significant powers of self-healing and regeneration. You will also receive ongoing support as required.

Osteopathic treatment uses gentle techniques to achieve and maintain mobility in the spine and joints. Osteopathy is an established and recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body.

Osteopathy employs many of the procedures used in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis, It does not just concern itself with the presenting complaint, but looks also at wider factors affecting a person’s health such as nutrition, occupation and the various stresses and strains, whether physiological or psychological, that a patient may be under.

The Reconnection is an accelerated exchange of the energy, light and information found in the Reconnective Healing Frequencies. It is a focused formation to connect three systems: the Ley lines of our planet, the meridian lines of the human body and the universal energy grid. The Reconnection is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that ties us back into a timeless system of intelligence.

• Having The Reconnection® is the next stage some people take having experienced 1 or more sessions of Reconnective Healing. The Reconnection® helps you stay permanently attuned to these new frequencies that you first experience doing Reconnective Healing. This will enable your continued evolution.

• Most people have a rough idea of Acupuncture, a healing modality that eastern civilisations pioneered and now western civilisations are gradually adopting to use to correct the body’s imbalances; The Reconnection goes a lot further by correcting imbalances and connecting you to Universal energy and information.

By reconnecting your meridian lines to the energy or Ley lines that encircle the earth which in turn are connected to Universal energetic lines, your body’s frequencies are enhanced and expanded, allowing greater healing.

• Many people, including myself, say that their lives change quite dramatically after receiving The Reconnection, especially within the first 6 to 12 months when they are likely to experience a period of accelerated growth and develop a clearer connection to their own life purpose.

Reflexology is an ancient healing art dating back to Egypt, Inca and Chinese civilisations. Firm, rhythmic pressure is applied to reflex points in the hands and feet which stimulates corresponding organs, glands and other parts of the body. Reflexology brings about a state of balance and deep relaxation, which re-vitalises, detoxifies and stimulates the immune system, which in turn encourages self-healing.

Like Traditional Chinese Medicine, reflexology works on the principle that illness occurs when there are blockages in the body’s energy channels. The Reflexologist feels these blockages as grainy areas in the feet. Pressure movements on these areas helps to disburse the congestion, improving blood circulation, lymph flow and returning the body systems to a state of natural equilibrium.

Reiki (pronounced ‘Ray-key’ means ‘universal life energy’ and is a system of natural hands-on healing originating in Japan. Ki is the vital energy around and within all living things. During a treatment, ‘ki’ is chanelled through the practitioners hands into the client.

The client remains fully clothed and is lying down on a treatment couch. The whole body is treated, not just isolated areas. Reiki works on all levels of a person: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, to restore balance, health and well-being. Reiki supports all forms of treatment, both conventional and complimentary and can often be used to help reduce negative side effects of medication or medical treatment.

Having treatments every day over four consecutive days can be a very powerful way of receiving Reiki, as the energy is able to move deeper each day, often having quite profound healing results. The first treatment tends to be a really relaxing and transforming experience in it’s own right. On day two and three some really deep healing often starts to unfold and then day four can feel like completing the cycle.

Shiatsu is a healing art originating in the Japan and China that uses the power of touch, physical pressure and stretches. This works on the body’s energy systems to enable the client to connect with the inner ability to self-heal.

In a session, the practitioner uses pressure with his or her thumbs, fingers, palms and sometimes elbows, knees and feet to induce deep relaxation and a feeling of well-being. The session takes place on a futon on the floor and the client wears loose comfortable clothing to facilitate the movement and stretching techniques.

Treatment can include dynamic stretches and a more gentle static form of Shiatsu Therapy. To receive Shiatsu is deeply relaxing and yet invigorating. As the results are cumulative it’s best to keep up regular treatments.
